Ontario Publicly-Funded Physiotherapy Guidelines
Did you know that the Ontario government publicly funds physiotherapy services for eligible residents? At Coxwell Physiotherapy Centre, we are a fully registered healthcare provider offering government-sponsored physiotherapy and rehabilitation services.
To qualify for complete OHIP funding, you must have a valid referral from a licensed Ontario physician or Nurse Practitioner (NP), be an insured resident under the Health Insurance Act (possess a valid health card), and meet one of the specific age or socioeconomic categories outlined below.

You are eligible to receive fully-funded physiotherapy treatments if you meet **any one** of the following provincial criteria:
Card Requirements & Billing Policies
Eligible patients **MUST** present their physical, valid Ontario health card (OHIP card) at each and every treatment visit. Please ensure your card has not expired. Any specific clinical wellness treatments rendered that are not covered under the provincial program guidelines will be discussed beforehand and billed directly to the patient.
How to Proceed
Follow these steps to access government-funded clinical treatments:
- Visit your family physician or nurse practitioner.
- Acquire a written referral sheet stating you require registered physiotherapy treatments.
- Contact our Aurora clinic and mention you have a valid OHIP referral.
- Bring your referral and your physical OHIP card to your first visit!
